WHAT TO WEAR-MATERNITY STYLE/ PLAINFIELD, IL PHOTOGRAPHY

4.06.2011

I have a lot of maternity session coming up so I decided to share some of my experience with what looks good for a maternity shoot. The most asked question by far is what should I wear for my maternity session. Families never ask me what they should wear but mothers to be are always wondering.

First make sure to take time for yourself to get ready for your maternity session do your hair, makeup, and make sure your nails and toes are nicely done. I am not saying go get a manicure and pedicure but take the time to clean and trim them up they will be in a lot of the pictures more fingers than toes.

Tops: There are two types that look really cute a top with a gathered seam just below the bust or a tighter fitting tee. Also don't be afraid to wear a tight tank with a cardigan over the top you are welcome to wear as much or little clothing as you want.

Bottoms: The big key is to have some definition in where your belly begins and ends. This can also be done with posing itself but the pants can help:) Pants should either be bellow the belly or panel pants which go all the way up! The tops of the belly pants can be really noticeable so I might have you roll the panel down and under so that is can't be seen under your shirt. Jeans are really cute for maternity sessions as well as leggings.

Dresses: Again you want that definition there...you want your curves to show. Go for dresses that are tight throughout the body or that have a tie waist. Wrap dresses work great.

So in general have fun with it your partner and you don't have to be matchy matchy. Remember this day is about you and how beautiful you are pregnant! Show off your shape and don't cover it with baggy clothing. Have fun!! Here are a few examples of outfits I put together that I thought were fun!
